Job Description

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is highly desirable for this post. Basic greetings are essential. The Visitor Experience Assistant works closely with the Visitor Experience Manager, the Director and the team at Oriel Davies 

The Visitor Experience Assistant supports the Visitor Experience Manager with all aspects of the day-to-day visitor experience at Oriel Davies. There is particular responsibility, with guidance from the Director and Visitor Experience Manager, for the selection and ordering of stock for the gallery shop. The role also requires experience, or a willingness to learn how to use, a POS management system. 

This role requires a commitment to weekend and evening working. 

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

Sales/Marketing experience

Good knowledge of contemporary arts, design, craft

Experience of working with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds

Excellent customer service skills

An understanding of fundraising, income generation, sales.

Proven experience in successful fundraising and development

Experience of budget management and cash handling

Experience of lone and team working

Knowledge and understanding of Wales, Welsh culture and some Welsh Language office skills (Answering the telephone)

Desirable

Experience of budget management

Database knowledge    

Gathering and analysing data

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential   

Strong customer facing skills  

Excellent telephone manner    

Excellent written and spoken communication skills   

Excellent forward planning, time management and organisational skills
