Andrew Dodds Planters at Oriel Davies

Andrew Dodds | Planters

Andrew called by recently to restock and tend the planters on the Oriel Davies patio. Andrew installed the planters in 2017 as part of Navigations - Art as Research.
The exhibition featured seven international artists reflecting on the nature of progress, decline, globalization and time. Using Wales’ Canal network as a starting point, they considered the process of "making and thinking" while responding to a particular site or situation.

Andrew’s planters all feature native wildflower species and provide colour with low maintenance all season. They are intended to offer alternative planting of municipal bedding displays incorporating flora found along the Montgomery Canal.

The three-year artist residency programme partnered Glandŵr Cymru, the Canal & River Trust in Wales, Arts Council of Wales and Addo and included projects with galleries and visual arts organizations, Bevilacqua la Masa in Venice, Emscher Kunst in Germany, Chapter in Cardiff and Oriel Davies.

The exhibition was curated by Addo and Oriel Davies.
