New talent in Contemporary Craft

Look West celebrates some of the most exciting new talent to emerge in contemporary craft in 2012. With a strong focus on Wales and the West Country, this exhibition presents work by newly graduated makers from leading craft and applied arts courses, including Cardiff and Falmouth, Hereford and Carmarthen, Bath Spa, Bristol and Swansea. The exhibitors have been chosen from the wealth of talent seen at this summer’s degree shows and New Designers 2012 – the showcase for the best new graduates in craft and design.

The exhibitors show a fantastic range of glass, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, furniture - and more. Collectively they present work that is beautiful, delicate, bold, daring and innovative in an exhibition that questions so-called boundaries between fine art and craft, and signposts the way for the applied arts of tomorrow.

Look West has been developed in collaboration with Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, whose annual New Graduates Show, Portal, has been an important platform for new makers since 2009. Portal shows at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, Cwmbran
